Office Dog Initiatives: Meet Charlie & Ruby

One of the best parts of working from my home office is my loyal and lovable companions: Charlie (6.5 years) and Ruby (3.5 years). These two dogs have brought endless joy, energy, and comfort into my daily life, making workdays brighter and adventures more fun!

Meet Charlie and Ruby

Charlie is our calm, wise older pup, always keeping an eye on the office happenings and ready with a comforting nose tap when the stress of the day hits. Ruby, on the other hand, is our bubbly gremlin—full of curiosity and always ready for a walk or play session. Together, they make the perfect office duo, keeping spirits high and laughter frequent. Ruby remains Charlie’s confidant and cheerleader, while he may not always show his love for her, you catch moments of his protective nature to keep her safe by his side.

Both came from rescue organizations, and watching them grow into the happy, healthy dogs they are today has been a joy. Their presence reminds me every day why pets are such important companions, not only for personal happiness but also for mental health and well-being.

A Day in the Life of Our Office Dogs

Their daily routine includes:

  • Neighborhood walks: They love saying hello to neighbors, friends, and local businesses. Ruby especially enjoys trying to visit as many stores as possible!

  • Office companionship: They provide comfort during busy work hours and endless entertainment during breaks.

  • Hikes and adventures: Weekends are dedicated to exploring trails, parks, and outdoor adventures.

  • Healthy treats: Charlie and Ruby have grown fond of Reggie treats, a daily supplement that promotes calmness and overall wellness for dogs. We’ve found it helps them stay relaxed, happy, and focused—even during the busiest days.

This is NOT a sponsored post, but we truly love Reggie treats and want to share this tip with fellow dog lovers.

Ruby’s Rules for Small Business & Marketing Success

Ruby may be small, but she’s got big opinions about how life should be run. Her office rules can also teach us important lessons for running a small business and growing your marketing presence:

  1. Walkies first = Prioritize Planning: Just like Ruby starts her day with a walk, your business should start with a clear plan. Map out your marketing strategy and daily priorities before jumping into tasks.

  2. Snack equality = Consistent Engagement: Treats aren’t just for dogs! Consistently engage with your audience across social media and other channels. Everyone deserves attention, and small gestures of interaction build loyalty.

  3. Nap whenever necessary = Avoid Burnout: Productivity isn’t about working nonstop. Take breaks and give yourself time to recharge—your creativity and decision-making improve when you rest.

  4. Supervision required = Monitor Performance: Keep a close eye on your campaigns and content. Track analytics, test strategies, and adjust as needed. Just like Ruby observes everything, staying aware helps you respond to opportunities and challenges.

  5. Snuggles on demand = Celebrate Wins: Take time to celebrate small victories. Whether it’s a new follower, a completed project, or a successful ad campaign, acknowledge progress—sometimes with a little happy growl and grunts of excitement!

Ruby’s playful habits remind us that even in business, maintaining curiosity, balance, and joy leads to stronger results and a more engaged audience.

Charlie’s Adventure of the Month

This month, Charlie’s adventure took him to Breakheart Reservation, where he had a mile-long walk through the forest reservation on a paved path. As always, he explored with curiosity and enthusiasm, including a careful sniff and curious lick of a giant wild mushroom (don’t worry—he did not ingest it!).

Charlie also enjoyed lots of “earth snacks” (a term coined by my sister), with his delicacy of choice being fresh dirt or mud. True to form, if you tell him not to eat it, he excitedly chomps some from the ground anyway! This dog truly loves food—his appetite seems endless, and he never misses a chance to sample something new along the way.

Each month, Charlie embarks on new adventures that show us the simple joys of life through a dog’s eyes: curiosity, exploration, and, of course, food!
